Vishachikitsa (Agada Tantra)

Speciality treatments

The Department of Vishachikitsa (Agada Tantra) at Gnyana Sudha’s A.K. Ayurvedic Hospital provides comprehensive outpatient and inpatient services focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of toxicological conditions through authentic Ayurvedic principles.

The OPD caters to patients presenting with acute and chronic poisoning, insect and animal bites, food and drug toxicity, allergic conditions, skin disorders of toxic origin, and lifestyle-related toxic accumulations (Dushi Visha). Clinical assessment is carried out through detailed history-taking and Ayurvedic diagnostic methods, followed by individualized treatment using classical Agada formulations and supportive therapies.

The IPD manages patients requiring continuous observation, detoxification procedures, and structured therapeutic care. Treatment approaches include Shodhana and Shamana therapies, administration of traditional antidotal formulations, Rasayana support, and regulated diet and lifestyle practices, as clinically indicated. Emphasis is placed on patient safety, ethical care, and systematic clinical monitoring.

The department also functions as a teaching and clinical training unit, offering students hands-on exposure to Ayurvedic toxicology, emergency management, and medico-legal aspects related to poisoning cases.

Through integrated patient care, academic training, and community-oriented services, the Department of Vishachikitsa contributes significantly to effective and responsible Ayurvedic toxicology practice.
